Are You Giving Away Your Power?
We all have a story.
It’s full of relationships and events—some joyful, others painful—that have helped shape who we are and what we believe to be true about the world.
One of the most powerful things I learned through my training and education is that the human mind is like an old film reel—each frame holding a different image, a different moment. But just like those frames, no two people interpret their stories the same way. Every experience is filtered through our unique perspective, and how we grow depends entirely on how we choose to see those frames.
When we’re not mindful, our life experiences can become fuel for negativity. They reinforce cycles of blame, victimhood, and powerlessness. But with awareness and intention, those same experiences can become a springboard for empowerment, self-awareness, and growth.
Because the truth is this:
The story you tell yourself about what happened makes all the difference.
Take a moment and reflect on the life story you’ve created. If you feel mostly at peace with your past and trust your ability to navigate whatever lies ahead, you’ve likely found a way to frame your story in a way that serves you well.
But if your story feels heavy—if guilt, resentment, or regret show up more often than peace—it may be time to rewrite it.
No matter who the characters are in your story or what they’ve done, only you can assign meaning to their actions. You and you alone decide what role you play in your life.
When you take back the power of your story, everything changes. You gain the ability to grow and learn, to forgive, to cultivate compassion—for others and for yourself. Most importantly, you move forward. Not just away from your past, but toward a future you’ve designed with clarity and purpose.
From this moment forward, choose a story that supports your vision.
Let your life be proof of your resilience and creativity.
Be gentle with the roles you’ve played.
Be generous with how many chances you give yourself to grow.
Because once you remember that you are the author of your own life,
you’re free to create a masterpiece.
