Beginnings
“All beginnings are difficult.” – Midrash
Beginnings—there are so many of them throughout our lives.
As children, we start each school year wondering who our teacher will be. Would he or she be kind or strict? Who would our classmates be? The uncertainty of those first days often carried both excitement and apprehension.
As the years pass, the beginnings we encounter become even more layered. We step into nu jobs, forge nu relationships and friendships, or move to unfamiliar places. Some of us even create personal rituals to mark these transitions. Yet, in focusing on starting anu, we should also pay attention to what came before. Endings matter, too. They close one chapter of our lives and allow the next one to open. Without honoring an ending, A Nu Beginning can feel incomplete.
Many of us find beginnings difficult. Spiritually, one way to view that discomfort is as an invitation to grow. Personal growth often follows starting over. If our routines never shifted, life would feel unbearably monotonous. Beginnings disrupt us, yes—but they also challenge us, awaken us, and give us the opportunity to stretch beyond what we already know.
Take a moment to reflect: What nu beginnings have you recently faced? How did you navigate them? What did you learn about yourself in the process?
No matter where you are in your journey, remember that every beginning holds possibility. Even when it feels uncertain or uncomfortable, it carries the seed of transformation. There is always a chance to step forward differently this time.
Wishing you courage and hope in all your nu beginnings.
